Heather West is an experienced editorial leader for global financial news outlets. She currently leads private equity news coverage at the venture capital and private equity data provider, PitchBook, and has managed teams of up to 50 journalists at Mergermarket, a financial newswire with a network of 500 correspondents across 67 locations. Heather has experience crafting key messages and strategic communications for Fortune 500 companies and worked earlier in her career for Bloomberg LP.Holding leadership roles in New York, Hong Kong and San Francisco and building teams across the US, Asia-Pacific and Latin America, Heather is highly versed in cross-cultural business dynamics. She also studied in Bologna, Italy for one year. Through her work as a reporter, Heather interviewed more than 1,000 CEOs and was fortunate to absorb learnings about corporate strategy from companies across industry sectors including technology, energy and consumer.As a startup mentor, Heather has worked with companies based in Japan, Italy and Georgia, and helps founders understand the competitive dynamics of the US market and craft messages that appeal to potential investors or the media. She has also leveraged her extensive network to connect founders with potential relevant partners to establish product-market fit, enter the US market, or meet other key milestones. Heather holds degrees from the University of California at Berkeley and the Columbia Graduate School of Journalism.
